AMANDA & CRAIG – Central Otago Real Wedding

Amanda and Craig’s wanderlust wedding from our Wild Hearts magazine volume 2, was set amongst Queenstown’s picturesque mountains and rocky terrains. Craig proposed in Western Australia giving them 18 months to pick a destination that they would both love and plenty of notice for their guests.

Their epic day was held at Peregrine Winery with 70 of their closest family and friends. Holly Wallace Photography and Films captured their day while incorporating their untamed surroundings and moody tones which was beautifully styled by the talented team at One Fine Day. Showcasing the captivating couple and some of New Zealand’s most dreamy landscapes, the pictures truly speak for themselves.

THE PROPOSAL

Craig proposed whilst on a run along Bunker Bay Beach in the South West of Western Australia. We were engaged for 18 months which gave our wedding guests plenty of time & notice to try get over and join us for our wedding in Queenstown. Exploring different countries and mountains is a passion we share which brought us to live in Queenstown, which now holds a very special place in our heart. The crisp morning air, the snow capped mountains, the delicious food and wine and above all the memories we have created are just some of the reasons why Queenstown and Wanaka have become our home away from home.

THE STYLE

We wanted our wedding to involve all our loved ones and special people in our life who have played a big role in shaping who we have become.

Choosing to have our wedding at such a spectacular venue as Peregrine Winery meant we didn’t need to add much to the ceremony & venue setting as we let the natural beauty be the star. Also after seeing what incredible work the team at One Fine Day do, we handed over planning to them as we knew whatever that created would be stunning and that we would love.

Good food & wine is very important to both us and our friends & family so was an easy decision to pick Peregrine winery and Artisan catering. Both were amazing to work with and helped create the perfect menu to show off what Central Otago has to offer.

FAVOURITE DETAILS

Very hard to pick as the team at One Fine Day created such stunning backdrop for the day but we would have to say the share style wedding feast created by the Artisan team blew us and our guests away! Another was that we wanted to include our Chocolate Labrador ‘Fudge’ in the day somehow from afar and Artisan helped create this with the very popular ‘Fudgetini’s’- our take on the espresso martini’s served with dessert!

FAVOURITE MOMENT OF THE DAY

Such a hard one to single out one particular part of the day, but one very special memory was our brilliant photographer Holly Wallace took us to a secret spot not far from our ceremony for photos and a small picnic set up by Artisan. It was a really surreal moment sitting back as husband & wife for the first time whilst taking in one of the most unbelievable views!

We believe when two people love each other and want to commit to spending the rest of their lives together, it deserves the celebration that comes with a wedding with your closest family & friends!

ADVICE FOR COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING

If you have somewhere afar that is close to your heart as a couple, be bold and pick a destination wedding! By doing this it meant we ended up having not only having one day but a whole week of memories with our nearest and dearest. I would also strongly recommend finding a team of experienced vendors and give them the freedom and trust to allow them to do what they do best! We were also so happy that we ended up getting the talented Shotover Wedding Films to capture our day, love watching this over and over again!
